I am a Clinical Psychologist with a strong belief that people already have what they need in order to heal from the obstacles life can throw at you. I work with people to help them to realise their strengths, knowing that in return who I work with will also enhance my life and practice. I also believe in the power of animals to bring out the strengths in people and believe they are our best teachers. Miette, which is a French word for Little Crumb, was my first therapy dog and who I clearly named my therapy business after. Miette suddenly passed away and I now have two puppies, Chilli (Corgi) and Hazel (Golden Retriever), who are training up to work with me.
I have worked in public child and adolescent tertiary mental health for 13 years, working with young people and their families experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma and where there is a disconnection between the parent and the child. I have also worked privately as a clinical psychologist with people across the life span for three years. I’m now bringing this experience into a private practice setting. The main therapies I draw upon are:
Eye Movement and Densensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)
Parallel Parent-Child Narrative (PPCN)
The Adult Exploration of Attachment Interview (AEAI)
Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT)
Circle of Security (CoS)
Neuro-sequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT)
